The brat intentional knocked over my tea this morning and then couldn't get off the desk quick enough to lap it up from the floor. Yep, I wanted to strangle him, but gave him a kiss and ran for a towel instead!! Took this today of him running under the little paper 'tent' a game he's played since he was a kitten! Almost 15 years of fun and trouble, let's hope for a few more weeks of fun and trouble

Heaven gained an angel today. The sweetest of angels that is. My cousin Jordan won the

battle, he beat the beast and gained his wings. I may live over 3000 miles away, me here

and Jordan, Sean, Nia, Chloe & Tessa in Scotland, but I'm fortunate to be able to say that

we're family forever and always. I so treasure the times we all spent together - learning to

'fart' with straws under our armpits! Oh Jordan what fun we all had. We now all have a

Jordan shaped hole in our hearts, but we also have a reason to smile whenever we think

of him. What a great kid

I saw my first butterfly of the year this week <3 He may not be here in the world as we know it, but he's here and will be a part of my life till the very of time and then some. I love my brother. I really do & I would never suggest otherwise. I remember the day he was born. Almost 5 I was & he was mine, mine to play with mine, mine to mother!

I loved you dearly David. Then things began to change. My sweet little kitten went missing. Poor little Footso was found half dead in the little trunk on the back of your tricycle after almost a week!! Mom saved my poor little Footso by wrapping him up in blankets with a hot water bottle & feeding him warm milk with a teaspoon. Little Footso made a full recovery no thanks to you. Dave, you then took that poor kitten in the bathtub with you. Scratched to bits you were & it serves you bloody well right!!! You got a Bundt pan stuck on your head when you were 2 AND I’ll never forgive you for getting your legs stuck in my favorite chair. I loved that little white chair & because you got your fat legs stuck in it, Dad had to saw it in half. You set the house on fire before you were walking, you drank Dettol and you once threw a brick up in the air and watched it come down on your head. I must say, I don’t think you’ve been quite the same since!! Despite all the horrors that you caused, I actually still love ya & am glad you’re my brudder! Happy Happy Birthday David & here’s to many many more!! Oh and as the old saying goes, paybacks are a bitch and life ain’t over yet!! HeeHee

When hatching they crawl from between the tiny flaps in the egg case and hang
from silk threads about 2" below the case. You can see 3 of them here crawling
out from under the flaps in this pic
.

You can see the silk threads in this pic too

There's 4 or 5 poking out of the flaps - they're worm like as they emerge.

They hang until they dry out and then they either fall to the ground or crawl up
and on to the plants around them. I only saw 4 or 5 fall to the ground. The rest
clambered up.

This was the last of the bunch. They hung out like this till they were dry

and then they too climbed back up the silk threads and onto the plants.

I found this series of letters while looking for something else today. I've had them for ages and hadn't read them in just as long. My grandfather, Grandpa as we all called him, was the greatest of grandfathers. We lived with him and Gran for the 1st 5 yrs of my life. Grandpa had a great sense of humor and fortunately often saw the funny side of things. He was a good one to play things out as well. Back when my Dad was 12, he broke a window at Camberwell School of Arts, a local school. He never denied it & Grandpa was more then willing to pay for repairs … once the local council got their facts straight that is. It took quite a few months before things were finally settled and paid up! So glad they kept the correspondence that went back and forth and so glad that I now have them. :))

This is a letter that my grandfather received from the London County Council regarding a window that Dad broke at a local school. Note that it says the window was broken on the 11th instant!!

Dear Sir,
I am in receipt of your letter of the 7th inst & regret to learn that my son is suspected of breaking a window. I have asked him if he broke a window in the school keepers house at the Camberwell School of Art & he assures me that he has not broken a window for many months & certainly not at the above school. Your letter says the window was broken on the 11th inst (that will be next Sunday - I will keep him under lock & key that day). I think you had better let me know more exact details & in case it should be my son you had better let me know how you arrive at 13/8 for a pane of glass - was it gilt edged?

Meet Christina. Christina just made a trip across the Atlantic with me. Loved for many years, survived 2 world wars, moved about England spending the last few years with Suzy before making her way with me to her new home in Pennsylvania. She looks quite good for her age. I reckon she's at least 107 or 108 years old and would have oh so many stories to tell if only she could talk. The gown she is wearing is my grandmother's Christening gown worn in 1899. I have a photo of my Gran holding Christina taken around 1902. Oh Gran, I will treasure your Christina till the very end of time and then some :)

I just made a note to myself to never store gardening gloves in the gardening shed again!! Why you ask when the shed is such a logical place?? Blasted mice - they are kinda cute, BUT . . .

1st off they ate the back of the glove and made a handy dandy little nest of which I found

Then they filled all the fingers up with sunflower seeds.

You should see the mess they made. I found sunflower shells all over the shed as well as several very comfy little nests and 'pantries' to boot. Part of me cursed the little suckers and part of me had to laugh at their ingenuity!!

Hey Dad, today's ya 73rd birthday. Not a day goes by without my thinking of you. I smile when thinking of the fun times, the silly times, curse you for not telling me to prime the whole wall and not just where I spackled when painting, laugh when I picture you sound asleep on the trolley missing your stop and me having to drive down to the next stop hoping you'd wake up enough to get off so I could then drive you home - that I might add happened on more than 1 occasion, I loved your warped sick sense of humor, I feared your temper, cursed you the time I ran out of gas on Baltimore Pike and they had to stop traffic and roll that old 67 Chevy backwards down the hill to the gas station only to be told later by you "Oh, I forgot to tell you the gas gauge doesn't work!" THANKS DAD!! I'm told we're alike in many ways - not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but will take it as a compliment. ;-)

My cousin Matt proposed to, his now fiance, Vicki at the top of the Empire State building back in November and they ended up on 20/20 this past Friday night. My Ole Cuz is famous!! Well, not really, but it was fun to watch them on national television. They flew over from England, Matt had it all planned out and it was there he proposed. Mom and I drove up to see them and had a great time. We loved Vicki and wish them nothing but the happiest of lives together. Yep, Matt, I'm coming to the wedding - See ya in September :)

I was just about to scream, but ran for the camera instead! What a great pic of Dewey with 'Bernie' swimming around without a care in the world. Oooops, did I name my fish after my Dad? Hmmm, sorry Mom, I know you're not thrilled with the name, but what else flows nicely with beta? Bernie the Beta. . . it's got a nice ring to it and I'm sure Dad would think so too!!! :)
