It was a rather cold and gloomy day and there were not many sightings at the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, but I did snag a pic of this sweet little Northern Saw-whet Owl. He was rather hard to focus on behind all the trees and branches. Not the best pic, but you can still see his sweet little face ;)
These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things ........... Now these are the BEST toys!!! At least that's what Zoey thinks. I'm finding 'baby' teeth on the carpet. So far I've found 4. Wonder if the kitten fairy will come tonight!! :)
Today, March 6th is my Dad's birthday. He would be 77. Dad died 13 years ago this April. Sitting outside a year or so before he died he said 'I'd like to come back as a butterfly. They are so carefree and free.' We scattered Dad's ashes at sunrise one morning. He was finally free. We also had a butterfly release that morning. One butterfly hung back. Fly we told it, you're free. It flew. Today, Dad's birthday with the wind howling and rain falling a beautiful yellow swallowtail came down the chimney at my Mom's house and settled on the fireplace screen. My brother Michael took this cell phone pic of it. It's on a paper towel on a old oil lamp next to the computer. Dad always sat next to that lamp. It's cold out, it's March, it's not butterfly weather. Love you lots, miss you lots ....... Happy Birthday Dad xx
If you're local and want some Pansies to help welcome spring, head on over to Renningers Farm in Royersford, PA https://www.facebook.com/pages/Renningers-Farm/71186601273?ref=stream I was over there this morning and there are definite signs of spring. Unfortunately I missed seeing Jay, but did see a few of the animals. HURRY UP warm weather!!!
The needlepoint behind Jake is what my grandmother made. I found it in her sewing box after she died. I have her sewing box in my living room. I'm trying to decide what to do with the needlepoint. I'd like to display it, but the question is where?
